April 2009: Barcelona- Seminary “Brazil, Opportunities of Investment. Sectors: Infrastructure and Environment”

The FBP with the General Consulate of Brazil in Barcelona organized the Seminary “Brazil, Opportunities of Investment. Sectors: Infrastructure and Environment” that took place on 27 and 28 of April in the Casa Llotja de Mar of Barcelona

During the two days of the seminar, companies from infrastructures and environment sectors had the occasion to receive all the necessary information on the opportunities of business in Brazil and the sharing of experiences between Catalan companies.

The participation of several Brazilian institutions such as the Brazilian Basic Infrastructure Association (ABDIB), Brazilian Agency of Exports and Investments (APEX), Regulatory Sanitation and Energy of State of Sao Paulo (ARSESP), and National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES) who attended introduced the projects of the country at first hand to the representatives to the companies who attended.

January 2007: Washington- Business meeting with  Worldbank

March 2007: Barcelona - Seminary “Division of Global Manufacturing Services of IFC."

The FBP with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona organized on 29 th March 2007, a round table in Casa Llotja de Mar, lead by Mr. Dimitris Tsitsiragos, director of the ‘Global Manufacturing and Services’ division of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Most excellent Catalan companies attended the event looking for business opportunities in collaboration of finance and consultancy services of the IFC. Some of the interested companies were Fluidra, Ciments Molins, Soler&Palau, Simon, Torraspapel, El Corte Inglés, Hotels Catalonia, Neocium, La Seda, Furas, Cobega, Topox, Taurus, Irestal and Ficosa among others.

Three companies started new projects in developing countries with the support of the IFC by this round table.

November 2007: Barcelona - Seminary “ International Infrastructures projects with Worldbank, BID, IFC. Peru: An Opportunity”

The FBP with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona organized on 12th and 13th November 2007 a seminar in Casa Llotja de Mar with the participation of the representatives of the World Bank (WB), the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Proinversión, the Peruvian investment promotion agency.

In this event the Spanish top 20 infrastructure companies were presents  searching for attracting projects in Latin America, especially in Peru.      Some of them were Agbar, Abertis Infraestructures, Saba Aparcaments, Cedinsa, Sogesa, Europrincipia, Auding, ILI-Cilsa, Asinca, Copisa, Copcisa, Dragados, Aseme, Autoritat Portuària de Barcelona, TCB, Barcelona Tourism, Gómez Kempf & Asociados, and Casa Asia.

The participants held individual meeting with the representatives of the multilaterals in order to analysis the projects in depth.

January 2008: Peru - Business Opportunities meetings in Peru
‘Mission to Peru in collaboration with the World Bank’

As the result of the success achieved in the Seminar, the FBP organized a Mission to Peru composed by five Spanish companies specialized in infrastructure and tourism.

To be specified, the infrastructure companies focus on water treatment, desalinization, waste plant, road construction, civil construction, parking concession, pool installation and tourism collaboration including trading program and resort construction in the Peruvian undiscovered tourist region.

The FBP prepared an individual schedule to each investor companies with the Peruvian relevant authority in charge of the project such as the Ministry, institutions, business associations, and also private sector who can become the business partner in the future.   This individualised work was possible thanks to the close relationship kept between the FBP and the multilaterals.
